THE GREAT CUBAN SONGWRITERS; A SPECIAL CONCERT BY FELIP CARBONELL

Twenty years after moving to Sligo from his native Mallorca, singer songwriter and composer, Felip Carbonell presents in 2018 a series of intimate concerts dedicated to the Hispanic poets and songwriters that have influenced his career as a musician. The unusual format of these concerts will give the audience the opportunity to interpret the meaning of the lyrics as well as the social and political factors involving the songwriters’ lives, and will include explanations and questions and answers in English.

In collaboration with the Sligo Spanish Society, for the first of this cycle, dedicated to Cuba, Felip will pay tribute to Silvio Rodríguez and Pablo Milanés, maximum exponents of the Nueva Trova Cubana, music movement that emerged in the late 60s after the Cuban Revolution of 1959. For this occasion Felip will be accompanied by his NoCrows colleague, guitarist Ray Coen.

The initial one of this series of concerts will take place in the Yeats Building on Friday 9th March at 7.30 sharp with tickets available at the door for €7/5. Admission price includes a glass of wine. On this occasion there will be no food served.

Veinte años después de venir a Sligo desde su Mallorca nativa, cantautor y compositor Felip Carbonell presenta en 2018 una serie de conciertos dedicados a los poetas y compositores hispanos que han influenciado su carrera como músico.
